Evelyn was bold, bright, and confident. She loved sunflowers, car dance parties, and bringing a bit of light to her cancer friends in whatever way she could! Evelyn always signed her name The Best - Evelyn and if you were lucky she would claim you as a #2 in her life, because first was the worst and second was the best, which is what has inspired this fun collection honoring the best girl.
Our Illouminated Family has experienced many loved ones battle cancer, whether it was a grandparent, a cousin, an aunt or a parent we have always been there for each other. This is why partnering with Team Evelyn was a no brainer for us. We pledge to donate 60% of earnings to the Team Evelyn Foundation.
Funds Raised from this purchase will support children who are receiving radiation as a part of their cancer treatment.
Did you know that kids receiving radiation as part of their cancer treatment in Calgary have to go to the adult Cancer Center - an environment not geared towards kids. Evelyn's family didn’t realize that either until Evelyn had to go there. It became immediately clear to them that the kids getting radiation needed a brighter and more child-friendly experience, similar to the one received at the Alberta Children's Hospital. With this knowledge in hand, they began advocating for better resources for children like Evelyn.
A Child Life Specialist will be critical to the mental health and care of children receiving radiation. This is a big step in a positive direction of providing whole-health care for our children. Evelyn would be so proud of this project because making kids experiences better really is the best thing we can do!
